Mr. Marco Zaplan of Philippine Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (PH-EITI), together with Ms. Angelica Dacanay of Bantay-Kita had a meeting with the PPDO Staff, PEMO, and CSOs to align the expectation on the Open Mining Activities as part of SC-OGP Commitment. The EITI has been used as a platform for dialogue by stakeholders, and as a source of credible information to inform policies on the appropriate fiscal regime for mining, and Bantay Kita is a coalition of organizations pushing for transparency and accountability in the extractive industry. The two (2) organizations would help in terms of responsible mining in South Cotabato.
Mr. Siegfred Flaviano of the Provincial Environment and Management Office presented the best practices of South Cotabato in terms of mining. After the discussion, they came up with ideas in preparation for the upcoming Open Government Partnership - South Cotabato Action Plan Multi-Stakeholder Co-Creation Workshop scheduled on June 21, 2018.
