As part of the Open Government Partnership’s aim to continually expand and enrich not only its members but as well the aspiring non-members, various activities are conducted in different levels, may it be regionally, nationally, or internationally. Being one of the members of the OGP Steering Committee, Republic of Korea hosts this year’s Asia-Pacific regional meeting for two consecutive days, November 5-6, 2018.
To show the immense support of the province, South Cotabato’s very own Governor, Daisy P. Avance Fuentes, personally attended the said regional meeting together with Mahintana Foundation, Inc. Governor Fuentes was then given the privilege to be one of the panel members during the Opening Plenary of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting 2018 (#OGPAsiaPac) at Westin Chosun Hotel, Seoul, South Korea where she proudly presented and noted the value of citizen engagement in every program of the government of South Cotabato.
“The government is created for the people, by the people, and of the people. Therefore, government should create a bureaucracy that is efficient, transparent and accountable. We do it by having our constituents co-own government. They should be represented. They should be heard too. They should be given information in the language and form that they understand. And they should be given the capacity to take part in government.”
–Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes, 2018 at #OGPAsiaPac, Seoul, South Korea.
Mr. Sanjay Pradhan, Open Government Partnership Chief Executive Officer commended in his opening remarks at #OGPAsiaPac meeting in Seoul, South Korea the South Cotabato – Open Government Partnership for being the pioneer in implementing open local legislative initiatives as part of the international commitments.
Indeed, weaving together dreams and goals not only of the government but as well as the people creates a majestic masterpiece that will gave way for a brighter and prosperous South Cotabato.
